Former featured lists

This page lists articles that used to be featured lists, but were demoted because they no longer met the featured list criteria. Featured lists can only be demoted through a consensus derived through a discussion at the Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates page. The removal discussions for the former featured lists listed below can be found in the featured list removal candidates archive. Of course, the lists listed here do not have to stay here: be bold in updating and improving these pages, and help bring them back to featured list status.

At present, there are 57 former featured lists. There are 5 lists that were demoted and then later re-promoted; 1 of those lists has been demoted a second time. For the latest Featured list reviews, see this month's Removal log.

Wikipedia wpisuje się w nurt tworzenia wolnych i otwartych treści, zainspirowany działaniami informatyków tworzących oprogramowanie wolne i o otwartym kodzie źródłowym (FLOSS). Jak w wypadku wielu tego typu projektów, otwartość internetowej encyklopedii zaowocowała szybkim wzrostem. W ciągu pięciu lat Wikipedia przyciągnęła dziesiątki tysięcy autorów i redaktorów, którzy stworzyli ponad trzy miliony haseł w 100 językach. Nieproporcjonalnie duża część pracy jest wykonywana przez stosunkowo niewielką grupę 4500 osób, z których 1850 pracuje nad wersją angielską. Wersja ta jest już kilkakrotnie większa od dowolnej tradycyjnej encyklopedii (zarówno pod względem objętości, jak i liczby haseł), a 13 największych wersji językowych, w tym polska, zawiera ponad 50 tysięcy haseł.
